The Story Behind My Music Production Journey
My journey into dance music production began more than 30 years ago.
Like many producers from my generation, I was captivated by the energy of club culture and the incredible records coming out of the dance music scene throughout the late 80s and 90s. The era of piano house, rave, uplifting trance, and vocal dance music had a huge influence on me, inspiring a lifelong passion for electronic music production.
What started as an interest quickly became an obsession.
I spent countless hours learning how records were made, studying arrangements, experimenting with sounds, and developing my own production style. For me, the arrival of Cubase on the Atari ST in 1989 was a defining moment. Suddenly, creating professional-sounding music felt achievable, opening up a world of creativity that would shape my future as a producer.
How Music Production Has Evolved
The music production landscape has changed dramatically over the last three decades.
We've moved from hardware-heavy studios packed with samplers, synthesizers, and outboard gear to powerful software-based production environments that allow musicians to create professional tracks from almost anywhere in the world.
Today, Artificial Intelligence is adding another layer of transformation to the industry. For songwriters and producers, AI is something of a "Marmite moment"—you either love it or hate it. Personally, I see both opportunities and challenges. Regardless of where you stand, one thing is certain: AI is here to stay, and it will continue to influence how music is created and consumed.
Why Emotion Will Always Matter
Despite all the technological advances, one thing has never changed:

My influences still come from the golden era of dance music, but I also draw inspiration from today's evolving electronic music scene.
